The Pete Ellman Big Band NFP, under the direction of trumpeter Pete Ellman, is celebrating 10 years as a performing group this year. Pete Ellman has played professionally since 1980 and has performed with nationally known artists such as Wayne Newton, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aretha Franklin, and more. Members of the PEBB are all local musicians that have also played with many well-known artists including Barry Manilow, Harry Connick Jr., Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Wynton Marsalis, and Count Basie.
One of these local PEBB musicians is also a Bolingbrook resident and the jazz band director at Bolingbrook High School. Pete and his family live in Naperville, run the Ellman's Music Center near downtown Naperville, and are committed to supporting local initiatives and area schools. They have hosted numerous fundraisers for local non-profits and have hosted hundreds of student groups in order to provide a musical experience for thousands of young musicians. To Pete, it is all about giving back to the community to give kids an opportunity to participate in the arts.
